Frequently asked questions

What is a language block?

A language block is a short, fixed word combination of two to four words that native speakers use as one unit, for example ¿qué tal? (how are you?) in Spanish. You learn it as a whole and use it straight away, without building it from single words and grammar rules.

Do I have to learn grammar?

Not to get started. You use language blocks the way you hear them, just like native speakers do. Later, a little grammar can help you understand why something is said in a certain way.

Is the method suitable for beginners?

Yes. You start with simple everyday dialogues at your level and build up step by step. The method also works well if you learned a language years ago and want to get back into it.

Which languages can I learn?

On sprachheld.com we start with Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese and German.

How much time do I need each day?

A little every day works better than a lot once a week. Many learners listen while they have breakfast, drive or go for a walk.

Who is behind Sprachheld?

Sprachheld was founded in 2014 by Gabriel Gelman, a polyglot who speaks six languages. Today he develops the courses with a small team in Berlin.
